Second Half Getafe 0-1 Atletico Madrid May 12 2018
Los Rojiblancos are now six points clear of their city rivals Real Madrid, who have just two games left to play and would need Atletico to be beaten in the final game of the campaign to hold any hope of jumping their neighbours.
A fine team goal on eight minutes got things going as Juanfran set up Antoine Griezmann, who swivelled and laid the ball on a plate for Koke to sweep into the far corner.
Vicente Guaita was then called into action to keep out Diego Costa from another clever Griezmann assist.
The game did threaten to turn ill tempered on several occasions with some hefty tackles and yellow cards being dished out.
Getafe were given the perfect chance to level things when Diego Godin was penalised for a foul in the area in the Second Half.
Faycal Fajr stepped up to take the kick but was met with a strong save from Jan Oblak.
Guaita did make one more big save at the other end to keep out Kevin Gameiro but the miss mattered little in the end as Atletico held on for the victory.
