Arsenal place £50million price tag on Pierre Emerick Aubameyang following interest from Barcelona in the summer
This follows reports from Daily Mail that a £50million price tag has been placed in the Gabon international’s contract to fend off interests from Barcelona.
As per the report, the Gunners have tried, and failed, to renew their star man’s contract at the Emirates, and they look resigned to losing him in the summer.
Arsenal manager Mikel sees Aubameyang as a player he is to build Arsenal with.
Barcelona are said to have made initial contact with Aubameyang’s agent in January, following the news of Luis Suarez’s injury according to SPORT.
The Nou Camp giants are now expected to renew their interest in the summer, and the Gabonese striker’s future at Arsenal hinges on whether they can secure qualification to the Champions League next season.
Ahead of Monday’s FA Cup match against Leeds, Aubameyang reacted to rumors linking him out of Emirates this year.
“Finally, I would also like to react to some of the rumors that are going around about me in the media”, said Aubameyang.
“People like making up stories and they should focus on what’s happening on the pitch.
” They talk too much and it does my head in! I am the Arsenal captain. I love this club. I am committed to it and desperate to bring it back to the top, where it belongs.”
For now, I’m here. I’m 100 per cent here,” he told RMC Sport.
“As soon as he (Mikel Arteta) got here, he put things on the table. He made it clear what he expected from us and that it was non-negotiable.
“Everyone has got to work. Everyone wanted to make an effort because we have pride there too. We wanted to regain the taste for victory and please our supporters.”
Aubameyang has so far netted 17 times and assisted once in Premier League this season. His second to Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy who has 19 goals.
