AFC Bournemouth v Cardiff City Live Stream August 11 2018 Kick Off 14:00 GMT

AFC Bournemouth are looking to continue to solidify their status as a Premier League club this season. The Cherries have done incredibly well under the incredibly popular Eddie Howe to not only lift themselves through the leagues since plying their trade in the basement to division, but to now establish themselves in the top division without too many scared of relegation in the last three campaigns.

The club have a clear plan towards establishing themselves further in the Premier League, which includes a new stadium, but the reality is that the relegation battle is getting harder season on season in the top tier. Howe will need some improved performances this year from some of the more experienced players he brought in last summer.

Cardiff City shocked everyone in their promotion from the Championship last season. Neil Warnock had been brought in the season before to stave off relegation and after doing that, he continued to make the club difficult to beat and they showed a real consistency throughout the season to secure promotion to the Premier League having finished in second position in the Championship ahead of the much-fancied Fulham and Aston Villa.

Last time they were in the top tier, the Welsh side’s achievement was set against a backdrop of fan discontentment with owner Vincent Tan and a lack of leadership from the dugout with Malky Mackay sacked in unceremonious circumstances and replaced with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was seemingly out of his depth.

AFC Bournemouth have lost on the opening day of the three previous seasons. Cardiff City have only spent one season before this in the Premier League and were relegated. It’s been almost ten years since the Bluebirds last beat the Cherries.
